Acting as Server with security programs Some Internet security programs (like ZoneAlarm) can give a warning that GetRight is trying to act as a server on some downloads. This is caused by part of how the FTP protocol can work...the FTP server you are downloading from can connect back to GetRight for sending the actual file you want. GetRight can be set to do FTP connections differently: On the Proxy configuration page in GetRight, check the very top box about "Use PASV mode for FTP transfers." That will have GetRight always connect out so should avoid the prompt. |

Error 403 or Error 400 when using a proxy server? This is usually because on the Proxy server page in GetRight, you've tried the "Use alternate connect (if proxy server doesn't resume)" checkbox. Try unchecking that checkbox. |

Error 500 HTTP Error 500 "500 The server has encountered an internal error and cannot continue with the request." Very little can be done about this one. It may mean the service is down and needs to be physically restarted, etc. Try once or twice, and then give up. Or wait a few hours or a day and try again. Basically the server is down or unavailable. FTP Error 500 |

Firewall messages about being "Under Attack" when GetRight is downloadig from FTP sites Some firewall programs will say something about you being "under attack" or being "probed" while GetRight is starting a download. Especially if the firewall is giving the message about the same server where GetRight is trying to download from, it very likely is a feature of the FTP protocol itself. To fix, try on the Proxy tab in GetRight, check the very top checkbox "Use PASV mode for FTP transfers". That makes GetRight connect a bit differently and usually avoids this message from your firewall program. Some gory details why: |

General problems downloading from FTP servers Try switching on PASV mode from the 'proxy' page of Getright's configuration window. This has helped many people who are having trouble downloading from FTP servers. |

GetRight and McAfee Firewall In order to use GetRight with McAfee's Firewall, you will need to add GetRight to the list of programs which have access to the internet through the firewall. To do this, right click the McAfee Firewall tray icon and select 'Application Settings' then click 'Add' on the window that appears. Find the 'GetRight.exe' file and add it to the list. This is probably located here After doing this, GetRight.exe should appear on the list of applications with access to the Internet, click 'OK' and GetRight should work propperly again. |

GetRight and Microsoft Proxy. MS Proxy Server has 2 authentication modes, Basic and Challenge response. GetRight uses the "Basic" authentication mode. BUT, in order for Basic authentication to work, you need to give the users "log on locally" rights to the Proxy server machine. For Challenge response, you do not need this right. Giving the internet users group that right should make GetRight (and many other programs that do just do Basic proxy logins) work properly with Microsoft Proxy. Thanks to Dickon Smart-Gill for this one! MS Proxy version 2 uses the authorization settings from what you have set in IIS. So you cannot set the proxy server to have different authorization requirements to your web site. |

GetRight downloads slower than my browser. Why is that? |
