How do I resume downloads I have started?
There are several ways to resume downloading files: If the GetRight window for the file you wish to resume is still available in it's download window, just switch to that window and press the "Resume" button. If the GetRight window is no longer running, start the "GetRight - Download Status". (You may start this by double clicking on the GetRight Logo in the tray icons.) The Download Status window is filled with a report view of all your in progress downloads. Just double click the one you wish to resume. (You may also use the menus and toolbars at the top of the form to do other advanced functions.)
How do I save and restore GetRight's settings if I am going to re-install windows?
Saving list of files being downloaded: You may save the list of files to be downloaded by selecting files on the Download Status window and using the Import and Export functions under the File menu. This also works to transfer downloads between more than one operating system running on the same computer--such as Windows 95 and Windows NT. You may need to edit this file to fix any directories or drives that are different...
Saving all the other settings:
There is no simple way to save all your other GetRight settings. But you may use a registry editor to do this (this should be done only by knowledgeable users.) If the drive or directory where GetRight is installed changes, you should edit the exported file to fix the paths!
To Export: Select the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HeadLight\GetRight Pick "Export Registry File" from the Registry menu. Remember the filename and move the it someplace it will not be deleted by re-installing Windows. To Import: Pick "Import Registry File" from the Registry menu. Select the file you exported earlier.
How do I schedule downloads for later?
Once you have started a download and the download is in progress, click "Cancel". Click "Yes" on the prompt to say you want to resume it later. GetRight will remember the download so you may continue it later. (Or, on the Advanced configuration page, you may also set GetRight to prompt you to download now or later.) After you have added as many files as you want, go to the Download Status window (double click on the GetRight Logo in the tray icons) On the Download Status window, pick "Schedule Downloads" from the Downloads menu. Pick the time when GetRight should start the download. Leave your computer and GetRight running.
NOTE: For GetRight to dial your modem at the scheduled time, you must setup the dialing information on GetRight's Internet configuration page. The scheduling options are hidden in "Basic" mode.
How do I set up an auto-proxy?
If you can download the auto-proxy PAC file (this is what you are linking to in your browser). Then view it in Notepad, it will contain the actual proxy settings. Enter these into GetRight's proxy field. GetRight 4.0 and higher will also prompt about processing the file itself and try to find the proxy settings...but if it can't find them, you may still be able to find them by viewing the file in Notepad.
How do I setup .EXE--like CGI scripts--programs on my server so GetRight will NOT try to download them?
The easiest way to do that is to put some "CGI-ish" items into the URL. If the path contains /cgi-bin/, then GetRight will never try to get it. (For all versions of GetRight.) If the path contains /scripts/, then GetRight will never try to get it. (For GetRight 3.3 and higher.) If the URL contains a ?, then GetRight will never try to get it. (For all versions of GetRight.)
How do I setup GetRight with a Proxy server?
All the Proxy setup options are on the Proxy configuration page. If you have setup your web browser to use Proxy servers, you should just have to click the "Find" buttons to get the correct values. Getting GetRight to resume downloads with Proxy servers may take a bit more setup. There is more information in the help file on getting a Proxy server to resume downloads (not all Proxy servers will allow GetRight to resume downloads).
How do I upgrade GetRight from an earlier version?
If you download the newer install program for GetRight and install the newer version of GetRight without uninstalling the earlier version, then all your settings will be saved. Including all downloads in progress, your preferences, your registration code (if you have registered), etc.
How do I upgrade?
Do I have to pay for upgrades?
So far, all upgrades are FREE! If you've bought any version of GetRight, you may upgrade to the latest version for FREE. Download the shareware version from here and install it over your older version. This will upgrade and keep your settings and registration (if applicable).
I have my registration number, where do I enter it?
Once you have received your registration code you must enter the number into GetRight to tell GetRight that you have registered. You may enter the number by:
Right click on the GetRight Logo tray icon, then pick "Buy GetRight" from the menu, then pick "Enter Code" from the sub-menu.
NOTE: If the "Enter Code" buttons are disabled, it is probably because someone used one of the "pirated" registration codes that have been illegally posted on the Internet. After you have legally registered (see here), contact us -- Please include the name and email address you used to register to speed up getting help.
